Bumboosa Bamboo Baby Wipes Stir Up Quite A Buzz

By |March 3, 2011 |0-1 yr, 1-3 yrs, 3-5 yrs, Diapering, MACT Award Winners, Product Reviews|

There was an incredible amount of buzz coming in to the MACT Awards program from mom’s who have tried Bumboosa Bamboo Baby Wipes.  No wonder our testing panel of  mamas loved these safe alternative baby wipes too!  Not only are they non-toxic and free of harmful ingredients that hide in other baby wipes, but these wipes are made from a renewable resource (bamboo, not cotton/pulp/plastic) and they smell amazing!  This lead to their MACT Excellence Award win! Bumboosa improves on the conventional baby wipes because these wipes are free of:  hormone disrupting parabens, artificial fragrances, and chlorine.  One mama shared her concerns when she learned that her current wipes were filled with nasty chemicals, “The really startling information I learned is that most wipes contain parabens, which are hormone disrupting as they mimic estrogen; the last thing I want for my baby boy is to put a hormone disruptor on his sensitive skin. Baby’s skin is very permeable, meaning when you put something on their skin it enters their bloodstream; so it’s very important what we put on our babies. Bumboosa wipes contains no harsh chemicals, parabens or mineral oils.” […]

GroVia Organic Cloth Diapers Are Revolutionary

By |December 20, 2010 |0-1 yr, 1-3 yrs, 3-5 yrs, Diapering, MACT Award Winners, Product Reviews|

We’ve recently put to the test a number of cloth diapers and GroVia™ All-In-One is currently our favorite All-In-One (AIO) One-Size cloth diaper!  Honestly, these diapers are as revolutionary to the diapering world as color TV was to the B&W. My husband wasn’t overly excited about going cloth, but he converted willingly after he tried GroVia’s AIO only once. He’s usually picking GroVia’s AIO’s from the stack of cloth diapers, whenever he has to change our son.  Our babysitter never tried AIO’s as well, so she was a bit hesitant at first, but now she’s actually telling all the other moms about ‘the perfect’ diaper. GroVia™ AIO’s have a super absorbent, certified organic cotton inner with a soft layer of water resistant TPU outer. It comes with a snap in soaker for older babies or heavy wetters. Read below why GroVia Chose TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) over PUL (Polyurethane Laminate). Furthermore, the 100% organic cotton inner is peroxide bleached to ensure the cotton fibers retain their full absorbency. […]

This Rumparooz One Size Cloth Diaper Rocks

By |December 20, 2010 |0-1 yr, 1-3 yrs, 3-5 yrs, Diapering, MACT Award Winners, Product Reviews|

Rumparooz One Size Pocket Diapers came highly recommended to us from some of our readers here.  (We love receiving your recommendations, we find out about some true safe alternative products that way!) As soon as we tested them we knew why the recommendations were coming in for these cloths. Rumparooz One Size Diapers have a patented design that gives them a unique feature that no other cloth diaper on the market has, the “poop scoop!” I wish I had the Rumparooz diapers around when I cloth diapered my daughter 4 years ago. She had plenty of blowouts when she was around 9 months old and all I would have wished for was a “poop scoop”. Because of those many blow out messes I gave up cloth diapering and I truly believe I wouldn’t have if I would have used these magical diapers. Rumparooz recently added some new adorable designs to their One Size Pocket Diaper collection. I love cloth diapers that offer many different colors and prints, it’s fun to put them on and match with t-shirts and leg warmers. I can’t wait to use these this summer! He won’t be needing any pants and it will be super easy to get him changed. Rumparooz One Size Cloth Diaper adjusts by the rise snaps on the front of the diaper to offer 4 different sizes in just one diaper. Continue to read to see how versatile these diapers truly are: […]

The Cloth Diaper We Love That Is Made In The USA

By |December 20, 2010 |0-1 yr, 1-3 yrs, 3-5 yrs, Diapering, MACT Award Winners, Product Reviews|

Happy Heinys pocket diaper’s adorable colors and prints immediately stick out. These diapers make me wish my little boy could walk around without pants all day to show off his cute cloths (no chance of competition from the ugly disposable diapers). I actually put on some leg warmer instead of pants a few times when we had visitors, to show off the little Happy Heinys bear prints. All of our friends and family agreed they deserved an award just because they were so visually outstanding! Happy Heinys made a few tweaks to their existing one size pocket diapers and we tested their new and improved version. This new version takes out the bulk and leaves the ideal fit and superb absorbency!  Oh yes, and they make these diapers right here in the USA! We tested 2 of Happy Heinys One Size Hook & Loop Pocket Diapers: the Organic version that has a PUL outer layer with organic cotton and hemp fleece inner lining AND the regular version is made of custom-milled fleece and an outer layer of PUL. Here’s the scoop on them both: […]

PVC-Free Wet/Dry Bags: Great for Cloth Diapers, Swim Wear and More

By |June 2, 2009 |0-1 yr, 1-3 yrs, 3-5 yrs, 5+ yrs, Diapering, Product Reviews|

Oh the uses a mommy will find for these PVC-free and lead-free wet and wet/dry bags by Planet Wise. Not only are they completely waterproof, even at the seams, but they are wonderfully crafted in the USA! PVC or vinyl often lines bags that are meant to be waterproof (such as diaper bags.) But, not only is PVC incredibly toxic, it also can NOT be recycled, making it an environmental toxin too. Not cool. Thanks goodness these stylish wet bags from Planet Wise are totally cool, economical, and made by a eco-conscious husband and wife team in the USA. Also, did you know that many zippers have been pained using paint that contains lead? Yikes! Well, not here. All zippers in Planet Wise’s eco-line of bags are lead free too! […]

This PVC-Free, Eco-friendly Diaper Bag is Practical and Hip

By |April 24, 2009 |0-1 yr, 1-3 yrs, Diapering, Product Reviews|

Here is our take on this pvc-free and eco-friendly diaper bag by FleurVille.  I mean, we are both moms (Sandra ready to be a mama AGAIN) so we have had our fair share of experience with diaper bags.  And we never really have fallen for a diaper bag until now. Most diaper bags are huge, and if you are a mama who carries your babe mostly in a baby carrier or sling toting a huge bag around with you too just does not work.  And I know because I have been there, done that. Hanging the huge bag on my arm wasn’t easy, it would fall down all the time and was totally inconvenient. I usually left it in the car and had to run back to get wipes and diapers. Since I was breastfeeding, I never really needed baby bottles either, so carrying around a huge bag wasn’t necessary.  And now that she is potty trained, my mega diaper bag has no practical use.  But, this hip diaper bag from FleurVille doubles wonderfully as a really cool purse too. Product Review: Seventh Generation Chlorine-Free Diapers and Wipes

By |May 14, 2008 |0-1 yr, 1-3 yrs, 3-5 yrs, Diapering, Product Reviews|

Well, I can tell you that we have probably tried every option when it comes to disposable diapers. Of all the options out there (when it comes to a disposable anyways), Seventh Generation’s Disposable Diapers are my pick. What I like about Seventh Generation disposable diapers: They are chlorine-free! This means no dioxin! A toxic chemical released in the making of the diaper, and also found in trace amounts in the diaper too. […]

Cloth Diapers Re-Invented – More Convenient Than Ever!

By |February 12, 2008 |0-1 yr, 1-3 yrs, 3-5 yrs, Diapering|

Honestly, I never thought that the research I did for the writing of our article, The Stink On Disposable Diapers, would have put me on a path of going cloth with my baby girl. Truth be told, I had tried using cloth diapers for 2 days when my baby was more of an infant, and I hated it!!! Now, after knowing more about what I am doing, I can truly say that I like cloth diapers! What brought about this change of heart? […]
