However, several NYS schools stopped the mouthrinse program at that time. The consent forms didn't list the side effects of fluoride. Even though the fluoride isn't intended to be swallowed, some is accidentally and/or involuntarily swallowed and some is absorbed into the bloodstream via the mucous membranes of the mouth So the mouth rinses can have all the detrimental health effects that ingested fluoride from water or toothpaste can cause. I'm also very surprised that fluoride mouth rinses are dispensed in a fluoridated area. I believe that NaFrinse is sodium fluoride. The FDA never safety tested sodium fluoride for safety or effectiveness. Sodium fluoride was on the market as a rat poison before the 1938 laws requiring safety and effective testing of all new drugs. Around the 1950's, Dentists started prescribing sodium fluoride off-label to children who didn't live in fluoridated cities Maybe you should make a presentation to your school's PTA to educate them about the drug they are allowing their children to receive in school. I am looking for information on a product that is widely used in the schools. It is called "NaFrinse". It is given to children in Kindergarten and throughout elementary school. We have fluoridated water and fluoridated toothpaste and we are told that the children need this fluoridated rinse as well. I looked on the ADA website and they dispute any negative results of adding fluoride to public water supplies. I could not find any information on the use of these fluoride rinses being used in addition to drinking fluoridated water. I do not allow my son to participate in the fluoride program however most parents just sign the consent because it's free and the school encourages it. Could you please help me with any information on these fluoride rinses. How can industries get away with this, and how come our country is still using fluoride when most developed countries banned it years ago... This makes me sick.
