Which Toys Are Safe and Non-Toxic for Baby and Child?

I am already on the mailing list from US CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY COMMISSION which sends out emails often, detailing all of the recalled baby and children products on the market. I am amazed at the numbers of recalled products weekly! (If you are not on this mailing list, you can do so by going to our previous article “Would You Like Instant Notification On Recalled Baby Products“, and get the information to get registered).

With the holidays upon us, I am sure that plenty of us are buying toys. At the same time, there is quite a scare as to what toys are actually SAFE.

Well, we are delighted to share with you this new site which will be an amazing resource for you and the grandparents. (You can email this article directly to them, to let them know this great info). I mean, who wants to be remembered as the relative who gave the gift of lead poisoning!

Healthytoys.org For Tested Toy Safety

Healthytoys.org is a site put out by the nonprofit Ecology Center, based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Their database is starting out with 1200 toys, with a huge variety of very popular brands. Healthytoys.org gives test results for contaminants such as lead, arsenic, and other toxic chemicals associated with reproductive problems, developmental and learning disabilities, hormone problems, and cancer.

This is a great resource for parents and anyone else who want to make sure they are giving gifts that are safe.
