organic ergo baby carrierEvery single person I know with an Ergo Baby Carrier absolutely LOVES it, me included!   Do you have a baby/toddler?  Do you support an organic lifestyle?  If you are on our site, you probably do, or at least know someone who does.  Today we are happy to highlight a really unique and organic line of baby carriers from Ergo Baby.

Not only does Ergobaby Organic baby wearer fit absolutely comfortably for adult and baby, but this organic line helps families personally contribute to the shift in awareness for strong environmental responsibility.   From material to dyes, this baby carrier is supporting our babies, our active lifestyles AND mama earth with loving kindness!

Ergobaby Organics does come in a few simple colors for those mamas or daddys who wish to keep in basic.  But, our personal favorites are the organic carriers that are styled out sweetly with w/embroidery and applique .  The feel of the 100% organic cotton twill with 100% organic cotton sateen lining is absolutely luxurious.  Soft and delicious to the touch!  The inside cotton batting is 100% conventional cotton.

Wearing Your Baby With The Ergobaby

You can wear your baby in 3 positions: on your front with the baby facing you, on your hip, and on your back.   I have always chosen to wear my daughter on my front or back.  I love the balance feel of this position on my back and hips.

I have worn my baby not only hiking, but while vacuuming, grocery shopping, and the all-time ultimate:  the airport. When we lived in an apartment a couple years ago I consistently wore my baby on my body back and forth from the car.  Having diaper bags and other things to constantly bring with us, my hands are usually full and the Ergo Baby Carrier helps me manage it all without compromising my back, shoulders, and wrists.

There is definitely something so sweet in having your baby close to you. She loved being in there from a very young age, and still does today at age 3 1/2!  The Ergo Baby Carrier has been tested to hold up to 90 pounds, so it is an investment that will last for years!  Not to say you will be piggybacking your 12 year old around town, but good to know that the durability and strength of this carrier is above and beyond what you’ll need to keep your baby and child held safely.  On another level, I have even see a mother with twins wearing a baby on the front, and one on the back!  Now THAT’S mommy power!

This is one of those products that gives the care provider back a little freedom.  We can keep baby safely close to us, and still have both hands and a supported posture to move around with.  I also  love that this carrier helped me relieve carpel tunnel pains in my wrists when my baby way young. By having my baby attached to me, my arms and wrists were free. The support is great around my back and hips, making it SO comfortable.

I have seen other backpacks for babies, but they are all so big and clunky. That is just not practical for me. The Ergobaby Organic is perfect, you can bring it anywhere and everywhere!  What a great way to walk freely on the earth, and lightly on the earth too with Ergobaby ORGANICS!

Why Organic Cotton Is The Best Choice

Cotton is one of the most intensively treated crops in the world! Not only that, but the pesticides used are some of the most hazardous ones out there and all of the earth-destructing chemicals used to grow conventional cotton fabric, they are often further processed with other destructive agents.

  1. Bleaching cotton gives it that glistening white color. Unfortunately, the bleaching process uses chlorine-based chemicals. The byproduct of such treatment is dioxin, an environmental hazard!
  2. Toxic heavy metals are also used to mask discoloration of darker cotton. These toxic heavy metals (copper, chromium,…) do not leach to cotton completely due to cotton being somewhat resistant to dyes. So, guess what happens to nearly 1/2 of those toxic metals? Yep, they end up in our ground water, rivers, and soil.

Ergobaby Organics uses 100% certified organic cotton fabric, made in India, for their organic carriers.  The dyes used are certified by Oeko-Tex Standard 100 to meet European standards, and by SGS to meet all U.S. Federal, State and Local Regulations, as well as being compliant with the European Standard EN 71 Part 3:1994 +A1:2000.

It’s a shame that they manufacture in China – most of the good baby carriers are made in the US. It’s very hard for me to trust anything made in China.
