Larry King Live Debates On The Dangers Of Eating Meat

Shortly after we posted our rave review of Food Inc., Larry King conducted a must-see debate about the safety of the meat we eat (see below).

This debate included Mrs. Kowalcyk, whose son Kevin died in 2001 after eating a hamburger contaminated with E. coli.  Kowlacyk passionately states in this interview, “We want consumers to have the education — the information they need to make educated choices about what they feed themselves and their loved ones. And we want better protections in this country for food. Americans believe that their food is safe and they have a right to know the — the risks.”

The risk of losing a child over a hamburger seems insane!  It just doesn’t seem possible, but the further testimonies included in this Larry King interview were sure proof of this sad truth.

E.Coli Death From Airborne Exposure

And a very frightening testimonial came from Nicole Fenstermaker.  Her 7-year-old daughter Abby died from E. coli complications in May of this year.  But Abby did NOT even eat the tainted meat!  She was visiting her grandfather who had eaten the tainted meat in the hospital and she still contracted the deadly E. coli via airborne exposure!

Quoting Mr. Marler from this Larry King Live interview about the fatal potency of E.coli, “Between 10 and 50 bacterium are enough to kill these children. Thousands of them would fit on the head of a pin. You can’t see it, you can’t taste it, you can’t smell it. And secondary cases, unfortunately like Abby’s, can be fatal.”

It seems that the dangers greatly increase by eating hamburgers over other meats.  Find out more about this important subject by watching part of the show below or by reading the entire Larry King Live transcript of the show here.
