When it comes to sun protection clothing, it is nice to know what to look for. This Sun Hat carries a 50+ UPF! If a garment has a UPF factor (Ultra Violet Protection Factor) of 50 attached to it, this means that just 1/50th of the sun’s radiation will reach the skin.

Sunday Afternoon does NOT use dyes containing dioxin, chrome, copper, zinc or azo dyes. Additionally, they are not treated with fire retardants, formaldehyde, or anything to make them stain or wrinkle resistant.
Sunday Afternoon tell us, “Our hats are made from taslon, which is a type of cotton handed nylon. Aside from dyes (free of all mentions above), we have a couple of other finishes put on the fabric, which include a water repellent finish, and a sun blocking finish called tinasorb. We do deal extensively with medically sensitive patients, along with our general public customers.”

After reading this article on sun hats, I suggested to my mother-in-law that if she wants to buy the babies great summer hats then these are the ones to get. She ordered a hat for each of us that very day and we have since received our hats from Sunday Afternoons. They are fabulous!
